30-Days to Healthy Living Part Deux

30-Days to Healthy Living Part Deux

I promised you I’d post a 30-Days to Healthy Living Part Deux post. I decided to begin a second time and do it better this time around! Then, you know, life…so I began AGAIN this week!!

First Day

I started again on July 8. I had a good day, with a shake, hummus, gluten-free crackers (exactly 1 serving, as I COUNTED them,) a green apple, a hard-boiled egg, and dinner at Fresh Kitchen.

Do you have Fresh Kitchen? It’s amazing! Fresh Kitchen is all totally fresh food prepared daily, and it’s all about bowls. Your bowl will have one or two bases, one or two veggies, a protein (typically chicken, beef, tuna or tofu,) and a sauce.

They boast 100% gluten-free, antibiotic-free meats, homemade sauces, no dairy or processed sugar (unless otherwise noted, which is quite rare,) and 1005 olive oil (except in the sauces.)

It’s really a great, healthy concept! They also have fresh juices and some awesome, tasty cookies and brownies.

That night, I really enjoyed my bowl. I’ve not been there for a long time, and it was such a treat!

Second day

I had my protein shake for breakfast, which I’ve really begun to enjoy. It tides me over well! Lunch was grilled chicken and steamed spinach. Half a bag of spinach…and I ended up with this little pile! I forgot how much spinach shrinks. It was a good lunch, simple, easy to prepare at work.

I also had hummus and crackers late afternoon. Dinner may or may not be a green apple and a hard-boiled egg. I’m honestly not very hungry.

Water Consumption

I’ve had quite a bit of water. I average about 60-90 ounces a day, depending on when I begin drinking it. I have a 20-ounce cup that I use to help me keep count, and I drink room temperature water because I can drink it faster.

I’ve cut way back to about 1 can of the bubbly water a day. That’s way better than four or five.

The first 20 ounces of the day include an Energy Fizz Stick. I have that mid-morning. I prefer the pomegranate flavor over the citrus and I am really glad I got two boxes of them in my kit.

It’s good to note that the Energy Fizz Sticks fizz more when used in cold water. Room temp water makes them fizz a little, but then it’s really just flavored water. Cold water holds the fizz longer.

Why Energy Fizz Sticks during the 30-Days to Healthy Living?

The benefits of the Energy Fizz Stick are really about energy. They are full of “antioxidants and a botanical blend of green tea, guarana, and ginseng, combined with B vitamins and chromium, to help boost energy.” (direct from the website.) Quote: “Energy Fizz Sticks also enhance cognitive performance, help promote endurance, enhance motor performance, and help reduce fatigue.”

As someone who doesn’t drink much more than one or two cups of coffee a month, I don’t miss the caffeine jolt like many others do who are doing the 30-Days to Healthy Living program. These little fizzy sticks seem to meet that need for many of those folks.

Let’s Not Forget the Herbal Tea!

I’ve also been trying to drink the tea. I say trying because it’s not something I typically do every morning, so I forget. The Herbal Detox Tea is quite good! It’s caffeine-free and supports liver and kidney function. Because when you drink as much liquid as I do a day, ya need help with the peeps LOL!

30-Days to Healthy Living – So Far, So Good

Granted, it’s only day two but I think I’m doing pretty well. I could use some more variety in my veggies, but hey, I’m doing the best I can for someone who doesn’t like many veggies!

I feel more into it this time around. I struggled last time, unable to my groove going. This time, it feels right.

If you’d like information about what I’m doing to get to “healthy living”, you can comment here, shoot me an email or find me on Facebook. I’ll be happy to chat and share.

I’ll post more updates as the month goes on. Until then…
